Video Surveillance Cameras Free Essays

Endeavors to screen workers have consistently existed in some structure, from mechanical keystroke counters in the early piece of the century, to the most recent advancements in electronic checking. As innovation propels, so do the checking prospects in the work environment. As consequence of the unlimited prospects in reconnaissance, nervousness in employee†s increment, which by and large prompts ailments. We will compose a custom exposition test on Video Surveillance Cameras or then again any comparative subject just for you Request Now Studies have indicated that people who are continually being observed busy working experience the ill effects of inescapable impacts, the lion's share being ailments, for example, physical, enthusiastic, and mental clutters. Businesses feel they reserve the option to screen their representatives, anyway when broad observing impacts a workers wellbeing, at that point the businesses has gone to far. Advance innovation has lead to observing gadgets, for example, by means of PCs, video reconnaissance, and dynamic identifications in the most recent decade, yet as the power of the observation increments so do the negative impacts on the workers. There has been a colossal increment to pass legislation†s that will direct the business in observing his employees† by means of PC. Checking a representative by means of PC is perhaps the most recent advancement in electronic observing, which is finished by buying and introducing programming in the organizations PC framework. When the product is introduced, it will have the option to do an assortment of sorts of electronic observing from keystroke checking and exactness, time to what extent it takes to make an exchange, and to what extent the PC has been on inactive. This kind of electronic checking that includes cutting edge innovation and â€Å"the consistent observing to gauge employees† execution makes a gigantic measure of weight and stress†¦ he stress that is made by checking has caused genuine physical effects† (Ternipsede 447) on representatives in the work place. Numerous representatives have been affected from such setting in the working environment, however they are ignorant of the impacts since they take numerous years to grow completely. Another kind of electronic checking that can harm an employee†s wellbeing is video reconnaissance. Video reconnaissance has existed in the work place since the creation of the TV. Video observation cameras come in all shapes and sizes, from the conspicuous ones to some that are little as a dime. Numerous businesses buy such gadgets to catch workers and clients who submit robbery and misrepresentation, or some other criminal behavior. The expansion of innovation in electronic checking is presently ready to move pictures from a camera to a PC where the business can zoom in and make a positive character of the worker or client who is submitting an illicit demonstration. This sort of checking is likewise to cause a representative to feel under tension in trusting â€Å"to improve worker efficiency and quality assurance,† (Ternipsede 447) which fills in as an advantage to the worker, manager, and client. Be that as it may, numerous representatives don't see the impacts of video observation has on their wellbeing since there just concern is arriving work done and satisfying their manager. One other sort of observation that causes wellbeing danger to the worker is a functioning identification. Dynamic identifications are another sort of the most recent developments in electronic observing and one of the most dubious kinds of representative checking. The dynamic identifications are the size of a Visa that is worn outwardly of the dress. It keeps track where the representative passes by infrared sensors that are situated all through the working environment. Numerous employer†s who advance this kind of electronic observing contend that it spares time when following somebody down. They likewise contend that it is to a greater degree a private method of expecting to address a worker secretly, rather than reporting their name over the radio. These dynamic identifications additionally have their negative impacts on a worker since they feel captured in their working environment since they realize that another person consistently know where they are. It causes a person to feel like they are in jail, then again, actually they are not made sure about into their working environment by bars and solid dividers. This kind of electronic observing is one of the most questionable on the grounds that it is another approach to attack an individual security, without the special case of cameras and screens. Bosses reserve an option to know whether their workers are on task, anyway when it encroaches on the representatives protection and causes wellbeing impacts it has gone to far. The businesses have the duty to recruit dependable representatives and ensure they carry out their responsibility, not following each move they make. As innovation propels, business the executives gets lazier and new checking gadgets represent a danger to representatives. The representatives prosperity ought to be considered before executing any observing frameworks. In this manner, who knows what electronic checking will hold later on, however will it become so complex that it will make a worker decide not to work and live off the administration? Essay on Calculus H Final

Article on Calculus H Final Article on Calculus H Final Newton versus Leibniz; The Calculus Controversy Like most disclosures, analytics was the perfection of hundreds of years of work as opposed to a moment revelation. Mathematicians everywhere throughout the world added to its turn of events, yet the two most perceived pioneers of analytics are Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. In spite of the fact that the credit is at present given to the two men, some time ago the discussion over which of them genuinely merited the acknowledgment was both warmed and broad. As the eminent creator of Principia (1687) just as a large group of similarly regarded distributed works, apparently Newton not just went a lot further in investigating the utilizations of analytics than Leibniz, however he likewise wandered down an alternate street. Leibniz and Newton had totally different perspectives on analytics in that Newton’s depended on cutoff points and solid reality, while Leibniz concentrated more on the unbounded and the theoretical. Be that as it may, paying little mind to the dissimilar ways these two researchers decided to wander down, the topic of who ventured out the essential issue of discussion. Ignorant that Newton was accounted for to have found comparable strategies, Leibniz found â€Å"his† analytics in Paris somewhere in the range of 1673 and 1676. By 1676, Leibniz understood that he was onto something â€Å"big†; he just didn’t understand that Newton was on to the equivalent large disclosure since Newton was remain ing to some degree tight lipped about his forward leaps. Truth be told, it was really the deferred distribution of Newton’s discoveries that caused the whole contention. Leibniz distributed the principal record of differential math in 1684 and afterward distributed the clarification of essential analytics in 1686. Newton didn't distribute his discoveries until 1687. However proof shows that Newton found his hypotheses of fluxional analytics in 1665 and 1666, in the wake of having contemplated crafted by different mathematicians, for example, Barrows and Wallis. Proof likewise shows that Newton was the first to build up the general strategy called the hypothesis of fluxions was the first to express the basic hypothesis of analytics and was additionally the first to investigate utilizations of both coordination and separation in a solitary work. In any case, since Leibniz was the first to distribute an exposition on analytics, he was given the complete kudos for the revelation for various years. This later drove, obviously, to allegations of literary theft being heaved tirelessly toward Leibniz. There was hypothesis that Leibniz may have gathered a portion of his bits of knowledge from two of Newton's original copies on fluxions, and that that is the thing that started his comprehension of math. Many accepted that Leibniz utilized Newton's unpublished thoughts, made another documentation and afterward distributed it as his own, which would clearly comprise literary theft. The talk that Leibniz may have seen a portion of Newton's original copies left little uncertainty in many people’s minds with regards to whether Leibniz come to his end results autonomously. The talk was, all things considered, acceptable on the grounds that Newton had as a matter of fact bobbed his thoughts off a bunch of associates, some of who were additionally in close contact with Leibniz. It is likewise realized that Leibniz and Newton compared by letter consistently, and they regularly examined the subject of arithmetic. Truth be told, Newton previously portrayed his techniques, recipes and ideas of math, including his binomial hypothesis, fluxions and digressions, in letters he kept in touch with Leibniz. Anyway an assessment of Leibniz' unpublished original copies furnished proof that regardless of his correspondence with Newton, he had arrived at his own decisions about analytics as of now. The letters may at that point, have only helped Leibniz to develop his own underlying thoughts. The topic of the date at which these concentrates were made is along these lines extremely significant. It is realized that a duplicate of Newton's original copy had been sent to Tschirnhausen in May, 1675, and as in that year he and Leibniz were locked in together on a bit of work, it isn't unimaginable that these concentrates were made

Economic Growth and Market Dynamics - Free Essay Example

Introduction When an economy increases its ability and the capacity to produce goods and services, it is said to be growing. Economic growth is the ability of an economy to raise the output regarding goods and services. It is determined when the comparison is made between different periods of time. Its measurement is regarding nominal or real terms with the latter referring to inflation. Combined economic growth is conventionally measured regarding GNP (Gross National Product). However, this is not the only measure of economic growth. Sometimes, alternative metrics are used. Market dynamics refer to the valuing indications molded from the changes in the supply and demand levels in a particular market. It is involved in the description of the price changes that are as result of the continuous changes in the demand and the supply of a particular product or an aggregate of goods. Breakdown of market dynamics A change in either supply or demand of particular product results to a change in the other which has an impact on price signals. The determinant of the price of a good or service is the market. This is particularly when there is no single entity which has an influence on the market. Changes in the market are attempted to be explained using the economic model by making use of the available relevant variables. However, it is not all the variables that can be quantified. A different sort of market changes is created by human emotions in a financial market. This is due to the existence of professionals in who are known to make rational decisions versus the existence of other market participants with little knowledge about the market. Breakdown of Economic Growth The rise in aggregate productivity which is also known as economic growth correlates with the increase in marginal productivity. It brings about a case where an average worker in a given economy on average raises his productivity. Sometimes, economic growth is possible without the individual rise in the marginal productivity via the increase of birth rates as well as increased immigration into a free economy. For an economy to be said to be growing, it tends to provide more goods and service than before. However, the measure of growth should be regarding quality and not just quantity. This because despite the increased production, some commodities are more valuable than the others. For example, computers are more expensive than pillow cases. Economic growth deals with numerous problems with the first one being the subjective nature of the value of products. This means that different individuals place different value on different products. For example, a heater is more valuable to the people living in the tundra and arctic regions than those in the equatorial regions. The best measure is, therefore, the current market value. For example in the United Kingdom, it’s measured regarding sterling pounds. A higher aggregate produced market value is considered much more valuable. Higher economic growth is also associated with a better quality of life and the standards of living. Economic growth is generated in a few ways. This can be through the discovery of better economic resources. For example, the discovery of crude oil before its ability to produce power which means that the resource can be translated to a cheap source of power for the countries’ firms. It can also be through the generation of more skilled labor which is translated to higher productivity. Another way to generate economic growth is through the discovery of better technology. In a nutshell, the rate of mechanical development depends on the degree of savings and investment since they are necessary for venturing into research and development. The last method of generation of economic growth is through increased specialization. Workers incline more towards their areas of expertise which is translated to increased productivity. GDP and how it is measured The value of economic activity within a nation is measured using the GDP. It also refers to the total value or the prices of the final products (goods and services) produced within an economy within a specified period. GDP, however, has three critical definitions with notable distinctions. Firstly, the expression of the worth of a country in the local currency is a definition of GDP. Secondly, it tries to capture the final products of a particular country as long as they are produced within the borders of the same state. This ensures that the sum of the total value of the products is represented within the GDP. Third, gross domestic products are calculated within a specified duration which may be annual, quarterly among others. Computation of GDP Calculation of GDP can be hectic since it relies on the total monetary value of all goods within an economy. Acquiring these values for specific product require strict exploration of the market for a specified period. This brings about a critical output that is equally important when broken down to large constituent values. A standard set of classes is utilized by the macro economists to break down the economy into its constituents. This creates an instance where GDP is calculated as the sum of the consumers’ expenditure, investment, government buying and net exports as shown in the equation. Y = C + I + G + NX In the equation, every section of the state economy is captured by Y. the value also represents GDP as well as the income of the state. This occurs because the change of ownership of money from one person to another represents expenditure for one party and income for the other party. Since all these values are captured and represented by Y, it is then said to represent the net economy (the entire economy) Validity of using GDP as a measure of economic output The unusual expansion of the economy for the last 50 years was a success in term of GDP where the general economy of the world has grown for around six times and the per capita income on average has tripled. But what about the impact on the ecology due to sustained high economic growth? What about the concern for growth in the developed world about the festering media earnings and widening disparity? There is almost a global agreement that growth and prosperity cannot be correctly measured using GDP. GDP may be anachronistic and misleading. It may fail entirely to capture the complex trade- offs between present and future, work and leisure, ‘good growth’ and ‘bad growth. Its great virtue, however, remains that it is a single, concrete number. For the time being, we may be stuck with it.† As stated in the financial times. GDP has not even kept pace with the dynamic nature of economic activities. The design of GDP is in measuring the physical production of commodities and services in the market economy; it is not well suited to account for the private and the public sector services that have no products that can easily be measured with ease by counting some components produced. It’s also not involved in the assessment of improvements regarding the quality and the diversity of goods and services or the estimation of environmental degradation and resources depletion as a result of the production process. Also, transformative dynamics in tech is not easily evaluated using GDP because the consumers enjoy much of the benefit. Therefore, as GDP is used in the definition of the report, there should be an improvement of the GDP accounts which helps in the definition of new metrics of importance which would create a more firm image of well-being. How the consumer price index and GDP work together to measure price index changes from year to year GDP is a representation of the total value of all the goods and services that are produced within a specific duration. The consumer price index measures represent the goods and services that people are buying which are annotated as a theoretical basket of goods and services. All these goods that the people buy are then averaged and weighed against each other depending on their importance to the households. CPI is an indication of what the economy is experiencing in terms of deflation, inflation, or stagflation. CPI and GDP thus have a close relationship though a few differences exist between them. The constant rise in the prices of certain goods is referred to as inflation. It is calculated using the CPI. Central CPI is used by most economists as a measure of inflation because food stuff is excluded since they have a more unstable valuation. Most people are always in need of economic growth but not fast growth. If there is a too fast growth, then inflation grows at the same speed whi ch is translated to a high cost of living as reported through CPI. This makes it hard for people to cope up with. It is then hard for the people to afford the new prices of the goods because the rate at which the people receive their income and the rate at which the income increases is slower than inflation. The rise in CPI is translated to a rise in wages because CPI is used in income adjustment. These adjustments in taxes, retirement benefits, and wages are done by the BLS. The government is, however, slower than the markets. Then if the growth of GDP is rapid, it is difficult for the government to make all the necessary adjustments essential for the citizens to have a good life due to the rapid rise in the cost of living. Both GDP and CPI are very crucial in the economy and tend to affect each other. The negative impact of GDP and CPI on each other can only be avoided through study flow of the economy. Importance of business cycle relating to labor market and economic activity The changes in unemployment can be analyzed using Lucas and Rapping’s theory of intertemporal substitution in the supply of labor. The real Keynesian model and the actual business model can also be analyzed via the use of the same theory. The main assumption is that laborers make a decision regarding how much they will work at every juncture and taking the wages as given at that time. The time that work is done keeps on changing as payments move creating an extent that the supply of labor becomes elastic. The business cycle is of importance to both the employer and the unemployed. The employers determine the best time to employ more workers and also recruitment. In the business recession, when the rate of unemployment goes up, there is a decrease on the side of the market. When the market is down, the employer does not create the entrance rate of employment to maintain the maximum profit in the market. The unemployment and job seeking rates affect the wages paid to the workers. When the business and the profits of the firms get back to normal, there is the creation of job vacancies. This leads to decrease in the unemployment, and hence it becomes hard to find workers. Due to low supply of the employees in the market, the unemployed can bargain the wage to be more than when the unemployment is high. On the side of the workers who do not match wishes that the wages should be lowered so that the job creation could increase. Formula for a key labor market indicator Key labor market indicator that is used to measure the labor force participation is given by the formula below. RL = CL/CP Where RL is the rate labor force participation, CL is the number of the people in the civilian labor force and CP is the total population of the civilian who are from 16 years old and above. This indicator can be broken down into groups depending on the age and the rate is given in percentage of each group.

Good and Bad Xenia in The Odyssey by Homer - 892 Words

More Than a Cup of Tea Offering a hot beverage, food, the safety of your home, or entertainment are all examples of presenting good xenia to guests. xenia is commonly used to portray hospitality or a guest/host relationship. xenia, is important in Ancient Greek society. Zeus is the God of travelers, in addition to being the king of the Gods. This forces for the host to feel obliged to treat their guests with much hospitality, and vice versa with guests, serving with high responsibility. Zeus would severely punish those who break the fine rules of xenia and hospitality. In the epic,â€Å"The Odyssey† by Homer, there are multiple examples of good and bad xenia. The group of 108 men who slouch around Penelope show poor xenia and are eventually stricken with their bitter death. Conversely, Eumaios presented great xenia when taking Odysseus in, even while he was disguised as a beggar. Xenia is a prevalent theme in the book and holds a central place in The Odyssey. Throughout the bo ok, Zeus demands the highest level of Xenia, yet some people do not abide by his rules. When Odysseus and his men end up in the cave of Polyphemus, the Cyclops, Odysseus demands welcoming hospitality under the name of Zeus, as they are guests; Polyphemus says â€Å"Give me still more, freely, and tell me your name straightway now, so I can give you a guest present to make you happy.† (Homer 355) When Polyphemos begins speaking about hospitality, it’s evident that its not going to end well. The True Nature Of Love - 1338 Words

What is Love? â€Å"Love, whether newly born or aroused from a deathlike slumber, must always create sunshine, filling the heart so full of radiance, that it overflows upon the outward world.† According to Hawthorne, the true nature of love should not flow from a place of contrived affection. Although Hawthorne’s notion of romantic love is rather idealistic, it starkly contrasts the way â€Å"love† functioned in Puritan society. Many young women at that time were quick to jump into marriages devoid of feeling and warmth out of fear that they would turn into old maids, unable to serve the purpose that God created them for; procreation. â€Å"It is a curious subject of observation and inquiry, whether hatred and love be not the same thing at bottom. Each, in its utmost development, supposes a high degree of intimacy and heart-knowledge; each renders one individual dependent for the food of his affections and spiritual fife upon another: each leaves the passionate lover, or the no less passionate hater, forlorn and desolate by the withdrawal of his subject. Philosophically considered, therefore, the two passions seem essentially the same, except that one happens to be seen in a celestial radiance, and the other in a dusky and lurid glow.† Seemingly different, the correlation between love and hate is ironically similar. Analysis of the Character of Mrs. Linde in A Dolls House

The American author Napoleon Hill once stated â€Å"think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.† In Henrick Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House, the character of Mrs. Linde contributes to the exposition and pivotal moment of the decideding factors of Krogstad, she also has a profound influence on the character development of Nora Helmer. Mrs. Linde directly contributes to Nora’s moment of realization and Nora’s decision to leave her husband at the end of the play. Woman within Ibsen’s time period were often considered lesser in comparison to men, and typically within a marriage the woman was considered an accessory rather than an equal. But in the case of Mrs.†¦show more content†¦Nora is able to form a rational decision in leaving her home for the benefit of her family. This reveals that Mrs. Linde and Nora have underlying similarities within their characteristics. They are both self-sacrificial, working in order to help their families; however, Nora was only able to come to this realization through the aid of Mrs. Linde. The main focus of Act III tackles the predetermined distinctions between the husband and wife, not the conflict between Krogstad and Nora. In order to draw attention to the marital relations between Nora and Helmer, Ibsen eliminates any other distractions and concludes other subplots that might draw attention away from the main plot. Ibsen uses the character of Mrs. Linde to remove Krogstad from the role of the antagonist by reconstructing their broken relationship, in order to increase the awareness of Nora and Torvald’s unstable relationship. This contributes to Nora’s relinquishment of her â€Å"doll-wife† existence, relieving herself of her â€Å"most sacred duties,† as a mother and wife in her final decision to leave her husband at the end of Act III. By placing Mrs. Linde in the role of the mediator, Ibsen is striving to eliminate the idea that women are only capable of causing trouble. Intrinsic Motivators and Extrinsic Motivators †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Intrinsic Motivators and Extrinsic Motivators. Answer: Introduction: Based on the observations made, the teams involved had different performances. The varying performance is attributed to the member participation in the team activities as well as collaboration in the team. It was observed that members in the first team actively listened and observed non-verbal cues from the other team members. The members regularly communicated with each other when observing the others which enhanced what they learnt. This group was effective in communicating with each other and providing feedback which played a key role in their success. The members applied the lessons made from their observations when creating the team agenda. During the team interaction, members increased their communication effectiveness. As a result, their identification with the team was improved and they were committed to the team agenda. The members also developed strong interdependence and relationships which were instrumental in collaborating to achieve the team goals. The team members ensured every team member contributed to the agenda and task execution by giving each one of them an opportunity to express themselves and provide ideas that could benefit the team. Each idea proposed in the team was evaluated and feedback provided. This engagement among team members contributed to improved interaction which enabled to complete their task successfully. The second team was not as successful as the first but managed to complete the task allocated albeit late. While the team members observed the team, they seemed to be distracted and failed to effectively listen to the other members talking. The members of this team talked with each other but there were confusion about what some of the team members had communicated. The team was ineffective in providing feedback which undermined its success. Interaction in the team was poor which created dissatisfaction and affected team member relationships. Poor engagement among the team affected the cohesiveness of the team and their competence at the task allocated. Without feedback and consistent interaction, the members could not effectively collaborate to create team agenda and execute the task allocated. As a result, members could not coordinate their skills. Additionally, several members were left out in the team communication which had significant effect on their performance. Such members co uld not contribute anything to group as other members were not willing to involve them in the team activities. Reflecting thoughts is the first step of active listening. An individual has to reflect on what the speaker has said which helps to pay attention to the situation before reflecting on feelings. Reflecting thoughts implies that a person is not only listening but also trying to understand what is being said. Before reflecting emotions and feelings expressed, one has to understand the speakers message and its context. Internal Motivators External Motivators Managers leading by example Reading success stories on the internet Workplace motivation sessions Watching motivational videos Workgroups Motivational seminars Organizational performance goals Career workshops Incentives Successful people in my career Top-performing employees Internal motivators are more effective in motivating me to work. They have more influence on my focus on improving performance than external motivators. While the latter also plays a key role in encouraging me to achieve my performance goals, the former tends to have a strong effect. Since internal motivators are within the workplace, they encourage me as an employee to enhance my performance in order to realize personal and organizational goals (Deci, 2008). For example, workplace motivation sessions are designed to encourage employees to adjust their performance in order to achieve the goals set by the management. Such sessions are more personalized to employees and address obstacles that may be affecting their performance hence are likely to have a significant impact on employee efforts. On the other hand, watching motivational videos may assist employees to assess challenges affecting their performance but may not put pressure on them to change. Additionally, motivators such as i ncentives and organizational performance goals provided by the management can be effective in improving performance as individuals are encouraged to work harder to get a reward or personal satisfaction (Yoo, 2012). I was a team member in a project which we were supposed to deliver a marketing strategy that could be adopted by the company to promote a new service we had launched. I disagreed with one team member who had opposed my opinion on how the project could be conducted. The disagreement turned into a conflict that threatened to divide team. Some team members supported my idea while others opposed it. I was angry that many team members rejected by idea which I considered to be key in building a solid marketing strategy. Fortunately, the company management intervened before the conflict could become dysfunctional. Key factors that influenced the conflict resolution process were culture and relationship. The team had adopted a collaborative culture and members had forged relationships which played a critical role in bringing the members together to resolve their disagreements. References Deci, E. Work-Integrated Learning Program for Hospitality Management

Question: Write about theWork-Integrated Learning Program for Hospitality Management. Answer: Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for hotel and hospitality management students is an essential part of the practical work environment. Smith (2012) views work integrated learning as a process in which the time spent in the workplace forms an essential component of an educational program of study. The main purpose of WIL program in the hospitality industry is to enhance student learning outcomes and promote workplace autonomy. This theory is also supported by Gibson, et al. (2008) who believes that WIL program is a structured learning strategy that gradually incorporates educational study with learning through practical work experience in a field related to a students career specialization. The program can be either work-based or experience-based (Smith, 2012). The vocational nature of hotel and hospitality management is vital to utilize WIL as a process of transferring classroom experience to the workplace. In that sense, Smith believes that students technical skills can be effectively transferred to the real work environment and promote professionalism. As such, WIL placement with reference to the hospitality management is ideal for students having a compulsory term of work integrated learning. Solnet Hood (2008) developed a framework for work-integrated learning that features the relationship between students, academics, and managers as the three aspects of learning. It is the responsibility of the organization to ensure that students benefit from the WIL programs through proper supervision and assessment with the help of the students specific institutions. As such, work integrated learning is not just a supplementary to the education curriculum, but a crucial component of the education process. Through the WIL program, students are provided the opportunity to be nurtured and developed by the organizational mentors (Baker, 2014). That certainly instills a sense of professionalism and practice within students leading to a productive learning outcome. Baker (2014) confirms that the significance of work integrated learning being a part of a program in hospitality management cannot be overlooked or overrated. Attached students gain valuable skills and experience through the a pplication of their classroom experience in the workplace. This way, students develop their interactive skills and enhance their relationship with clients, fellow workers, and the management for the benefit of both the organization and self. It is important that students should be mentored on a practical basis beyond what they learn in their classrooms. In the organization, a trainer acts as a counselor and a leader. As such, the organizations work integrated learning must be supported by a coaching that provides the order of events necessary for a successful learning outcome as outlined in the table below. Table 1: Design principles of Work Integrated Learning Placement Design Principle Training Connection Relevance The WIL placement program is designed essentially to meet the needs of the organization and its employees. Senior management support Senior managers acknowledge the significance of the training program and clearly demonstrate their approval through their actions and resources over the short, medium, and long-term. Systematic alignment Systematically structured processes are used to identify, select, and matching trainers and trainees. Task specification Roles and responsibilities of students and trainers are clarified and mutually accepted. Flexibility Trainees go through a variety of learning activities and work environments Innovation and technology Trainees and trainers utilize the internet to update and manage the organizational details of their training partnership. Assessment Procedures are executed to constantly assess and upgrade the components of the program Source: Smith (2012) The design of an integrated training program can enhance the sense of personal adjustment that both the trainer and the trainee may need. Groenewald (2004) believes that such a plan is a systematic way through which expectations can be identified and met. Also, since the plan reflects the negotiated agreement between mentors and students, it is structured in a way that provides the flexibility necessary over the given learning period. Spowart (2006) agrees with this idea by stating that the plan should not be entirely a formal contract but should be based on both the professional and personal expectations of the students. And for the trainer to implement the plan, he or she has to consider the students learning outcome which can be provided by their particular educational institutions. The importance of academic institutions involvement in the development of the WIL program is that it provides the organization with the valuable information about the students needs, purpose, expectati ons, and the mode of assessment and feedback (Gibson, et al., 2008). Tse (2010) suggests that work integrated learning programs for hospitality management students aim at nurturing them by identifying and developing the necessary competencies needed in the real workplace. As such, the primary objective of the WIL program is to enhance students employability and not their academic performance. And for the program to be successful, each stakeholder has to play a specific role. Wilkins, et al. (2007) believes that the best WIL placement program is that which involves the hosting organization from the start and demonstrates an obvious commitment to the learning outcomes of the students. In that sense, the hosting business does not view students as sources of cheap labor but as potentials in the current dynamic business environment. In the hotel and hospitality sector, organizations need to play the role of promoting work-integrated learning experience as that offers an ideal opportunity for leaders to create long-term relations and a greater capability to meet the changing needs of the industry. The success of the training programs depends on the competence of trainers, and their ability to create strong interpersonal relationships and a supportive workplace. The table below outlines the necessary skills and knowledge of competent mentors. Table 2: Skills and knowledge of mentors Skill and Knowledge Trainer Interpersonal Patient, empathic, honest, compassionate, and open and friendly Communication Skilled in collaborative aspects of conflict resolution and understand both verbal and nonverbal style of communication Responsiveness Good listeners and can understand all that is said and unsaid Competence Updated with current trends as well as recent research. Versatility Flexible and comfortable relating with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Acknowledges the diversity in the points of view Contemplative Self-reflective and possess strong supervision skills. Utilize past experience to build on the current situations Source: Solnet, et al. (2009) The main purpose of the Work Integrated Learning placement program is to nurture students and develop their interactive skills beyond what they have gained in their academic institutions. Furthermore, helping students to acquire practical skills through this program creates within them, a sense of self-control and professionalism necessary in the current workplace. Healthcare reform initiatives that have been implemented in the past 2

Healthcare reform initiatives that have been implemented in the past 2 Introduction For a long time now, the polarizing debate concerning the healthcare systems of the United States of America has never ceased. Some people have argued that the Americans receive the best health care in the world with reference to the freely available medical technology as well as the system’s highly emblematic state-of-the-art facilities.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Healthcare reform initiatives that have been implemented in the past 2-3 years specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More On the contrast, others have pointed out that it is the most inefficient in the world with the government spending very much on healthcare yet the citizens are prone to inequality, uninsurance and administrative waste. As a result, the government of USA initiated reforms to be made in the health care systems in a bid to perfect it to becoming one of the best in the world. If implemented, the reforms will lead to the bigge st expansion of the Medicare to have existed in the last 45 years (Reid 21). This paper is therefore a discussion and identification of the health care reforms that have been implemented in the past 2-3 years. The provisions of health care reforms It is during his tenure that President Obama became the signatory of the health care reform legislation into law in March 2010 (Bunce 4). He did this by signing two federal statutes that were enacted in the same year. These are Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. According to the new law, the health care system is bound to improve such that more people become insured and ensure that quality services are offered among other stipulated reforms. The reform was planned to take part in two phases with the first phase taking place between 2010 and 2013. This has provisions for expanding the insurance option such that more people obtain medical covers. In the second phas e Organizations will be forced to make sure that they obtain insurance for their employees. Implemented Reforms Since the enactment of the provisions into law, most of the reforms have already taken place some of which include the following;Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? This has ensured that the young adults continue to receive proper healthcare until the time when they get jobs and are now able to pay for their own insurance (Reid 34). The lifetime limit that was before imposed is no longer in place as insurance companies have been banned from enforcing the lifetime dollar limits they initially placed o services such as the stay in hospitals. At the present, there are about 4 million businesses that have been authorized to get credit to cater for the employer’s contribution with regard to the health insurance plans for employees. This therefore ensures that the small businesses afford the expected contribution to the health insurance firms. The new plans have free preventive procedures on health care. For instance mammograms and colonoscopies are provided free on charge without being deducted on the employees pay slips. The consumers are protected such that they can make appeals on issue concerning their insurance. The reforms have seen that the primary care medical doctors are encouraged through incentives such as having their number increased, being allocated assistants to help them among others (Network 1). On the same matter, those healthcare providers working in the rural areas are offered increased support to ensure that they increase their efficiency in those areas. As a result the whole population has access to proper health care. The reforms have also seen the implementa tion of funding for projects that are aimed at preventing disease through the health fund. This is done through the Public Health Fund that was begun in the year 2010 (Network 1). Other of the reforms that have been implemented and are already in action up to no include; Increased home options for the disabled people, aid for the seniors once they leave the hospital on stays, discounted costs on Medicare, improved accountability and creation for a center of Medicare and Medicare innovation just to mention but a few. Conclusion From the above discussion it can be clearly seen that the signing of the bills by President Obama was a big step towards the beginning of attainment of proper health care for the American citizens. Despite the many challenges such as political influences and legal challenges, some of the reforms have been already implanted. The fact that these reforms are many number means that they cannot be all implanted at once hence the reason for the phases put in place to ensure the implementations occur sequentially. However, at the time when all the documented reforms are implemented, then Americans will be enjoying the best health care system in the whole world. This is because the better part of the population will be insured and all having access to proper health care. Bunce, V. and Matthews, M. The 2008 presidential candidates on health care reform. Web. This reflects on the fact that these devices are related to automation and control. The article reflect on the health care or medicine industry. Different controls and sensors have been used for each device. For the artificial pancreas linear and nonlinear proportional-derivative (PD) algorithms to emulate the naturalistic biphasic insulin secretion profile. Advanced control technologies have been, including variations on PID control, run-to-run control and model predictive control. Control and manipulated variables differ from device to device as all devices are used for different reasons and are also based on different models. The articles highlights the issue of ventricular assist devices. Although high-level physiologic control is a promising technology a thorough research is required to understand how to control the speed of the pump and in response to what sensors. The paper reflects on the gap between engineers and clinicians. It shows that engineer can contribute and are highly contributing to the health care industry. With the help of automation and control, many traditional issues have been overcome and have caused an advancement in the field of biotechnology. Even though so much advance has and is taking place, they are many barriers that are causing resistance to the advancement. Not only are these barriers to be overcome but also different ways of improvement are to be sought. Those which are known should also be implemented. From a regulatory point of view, during development the centre of focus shouldn’t be the drug but the device. This is because opting to focus on the device usually leads to a shorter pathway of

Movie Response Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Movie Response - Essay Example The director of the movie, Spike Lee, who also plays the character of Mookie, portrays the relationship between the characters on the racial background. The message about racism and the relations between races is quite strong and powerful in this film. You can divide the characters into two groups – those who try to live peacefully with the representatives of another race (Pino, Jade, Vito), and those who are in the state of conflict and have anger at the people of different race (Buggin Out, Radio Raheem). Mookie is somewhere in between – he seems to be torn between both sides due to his commitments. One more important character of the movie is Mister Senor Love Daddy – his is the voice of reason in this conflict. The conflict, which builds up gradually and finally breaks out in the end of the movie, is triggered by Buggin Out and Radio Raheem, but the main part is played by Mookie, who seems to finally decide for himself which side to take, and he ends up on the side of his race, the African-Americans. Even though the movie is not easy to watch, I would even dare to say that it is a heavy-duty film, in the end you feel like you have learned something, because you see the position of those who are at the other side. The main conclusion that I come to is that racism is ugly in all its manifestations. Whether there are people dying from the racial conflicts, or businesses suffering, or children are getting the wrong message – racism is bad, it is wrong. When you start watching the movie with the title â€Å"Do the Right Thing†, you wonder what IS the right thing? Watching the movie I was thinking and, in a way, hoping that in the end I will get the answer to this profound question. Instead, I was left wondering. This question is left up to the audience to decide, and that is probably what good movie is about – not to tell you what is right or what is wrong, but to make you ask yourself these questions. In the end of the day, after watching the movie

The Value of Life Essay Example for Free

The Value of Life Essay The value of life is a heavy and controversial thought in many ways it is necessary to put a price on death but in others it seems un-just or not right to the grieving family and friends who has just lost someone. There cannot be a price on life that is at all fair to the lost ones family but the government feels that they can give one. If there must be a dollar amount on life how do you determine what it is there are many facts and opinions on how to figure that out as well, but does any dollar amount bring back the lost man or woman; of course not. People say that a person’s after life amount should be looked at in an equal way to the amount of money they earned whilst still living. There family should receive enough money so that they can continue living as if there loss was still there. But if that was fair, a homeless person or someone who hasn’t made a good amount of money over life time should be worth less than an average person or a person with a higher life standard. Every human should be equal to no matter the amount of money that you have collected. A stronger belief is that every persons loved ones should be given a certain amount of money such as $500,000. More people believe that that is the most fair and just option. But of course we want the best for our loved ones and $500,000 does not cover those expenses. But if any amount above that were given people would try to take advantage of it. Faking deaths and murdering family members just for the amount of money that is given.

The spread and localization of Buddhism and Islam into Southeast Asia E

The spread of religion first began through contact with neighbouring countries which gradually expand throughout the years. Buddhism and Islam are one of the most widespread religions across Southeast Asian countries like Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Trade merchants and imperial support of the religion played as major factors which facilitated and localised the spread of Buddhism and Islam within various countries. However, there were limitations present which hindered the development of each religion in Southeast Asia as introduction of newer religions and changes within imperial power which would have affected their progression to become fully localised pre-1800s. After the death of Buddha around the 5th century, divisions within the religion began to grow due to differences in the interpretation of Buddha’s teaching thus resulted in Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism (Bowker 2007, 140-141). Till this day, Theravada Buddhism persists predominant in Southeast Asia. Theravada Buddhism focuses their beliefs on the personal liberation whilst Mahayana Buddhism regards itself on the teaching of compassion for every living being (Berzin 2010). The spread of Buddhism, mainly Theravada, first began around early 3rd century BCE when Buddhist emissaries were sent to Indonesia and Burma by Indian emperor Asoka (Gosling 2002, 84-85). During and after his reign, his constant advocacy had sustained the faith’s position throughout Southeast Asia, influencing his children to introduce Buddhism into Sri Lanka during the first and second century CE (Gosling 2002, 82) which spread across to Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam (Swearer 1997, 90). This was further developed due to the mass influx of Indian merc... ...ry CE when Muslim merchants, accompanied by missionary Sufis, from India and Arabia arrived through the Indian Ocean trade route for business (Johnston 2002, 291). However, it wasn’t until the 13th century when Islam began to spread across Southeast Asia from Sumatra through to Java until reaching Borneo and Philippines in the 16th century (Houben 2003, 153). Trade was not the only purpose indicated from Muslim merchants as Sufis brought about the localization of Islamic organisations for Islamic teachings which would appeal to locals and their rulers for valuable networks (Johnston 2002, 291). This presence of Islam was recorded by Moroccan traveller Marco Polo in the late 13th century which indicated the advancement of Islam localisation where citizens of Perlak, Sumatra and the Pasai king, Sultan Al-Malikus Saleh were already converted as Muslims (Mutalib 2008).

My selection is Situation 3 from Page 226. â€Å"Fallen Through The Cracks† Everybody has seen at least one in their lifetime, we all know it. Some of us feel sorry for them, some of us just wish they would get up and do something with their lives. Unfortunately for them, there are far more people that prefer the second option. We would much rather turn the other cheek and pretend we had never seen anything at all. No one ever really thinks of how much they may be hurting someone by just simply walking by.Anyone in their right mind would like to sit on their pedestal and argue that that is wrong and we should help these people get back on their feet. I have yet to see a person do more than drop a couple quarters into the lap of one of these people. I also have a hard time finding any sort of advertisement for helping this country’s less fortunate individuals. As we all know, Americans need to be reminded of what we should be doing, or it will not get done. Yesterday, I was on my way home when I spotted a homeless man sitting next to a building.I parked my vehicle and went over to him. He seemed rather confused about what I was doing, and his first thought must have been that I was there to stare and make fun of him. After being told to go away, I simply said I was there to help. The debate went back and forth for a while until I finally was able to sway his opinion and get him to come with me. I offered for him to come live with me while he finds a job. I told him I would provide food, clothing, transportation to interviews, and toiletry items so he could keep himself looking presentable. We had an accord. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I see literally thousands of people walk by and either act like the person blends in with the background on which they lie, scoff, or say terrible things. Assuming I was in this situation, after a while I might think I am just as worthless as they are saying I am. Also, being so few places to go to seek shelte r or help in improving one self, makes it hard to rise above the current position. Although, some people do deserve the position they are in, many do not, and everyone deserves another chance. No person should have to spend their life n the streets with nothing to call their own when so many people have so much. Locally, a change can be made rather easily, I think. A simple lack of communication seems to be the problem, as far as I can tell. Nobody gets reminded of the issue, therefore, they do not have a drive to do anything about it. Everyone feels they are â€Å"too busy† to make any significant difference. Unless you are working two jobs, going to school full time, and have a family of seven at home, you’re probably not too busy. Five minutes makes a world of difference, and who knows what can be accomplished by simply helping a hand in need?
